Responsibilities
- Analyze and configure Mainframe DASD storage availability, SMS constructs, ACS routines.
- Monitor, support, maintain, and enhance storage, backups, and data replication for Sysplexes.
- Analyze and resolve Mainframe DASD space concerns.
- Configure Mainframe DASD space capacity as needed.
- Analyze and implement required SMS modifications.
- Analyze and modify Mainframe ACS code as required.
- Monitor DASD storage performance and space availability.
- Process Mainframe SMS construct modifications via TSO logon.
- Test all changes in a test environment prior to deployment.
- Perform catalog reorganization and analyze data set retention requirements.
- Configure Hierarchical Storage Management parameters.
- Address SNOW ticket requests related to Mainframe Storage administration.
- Reorganize control data sets as needed.
- Support IBM Mainframe storage management using DF/SMS ACS routines.
- Review storage thresholds and analyze DASD storage usage.
- Provide DASD and storage requirement estimates and recommendations.
- Configure DASD storage to address shortages.
- Review backup schedules for recoverability.
- Analyze and resolve DASD backup and data replication failures.
- Document storage issues and resolutions in ticketing systems.
- Collaborate with vendors and support teams for performance reviews.
- Provide storage administration support and manage storage pools.
- Perform problem diagnostics, backups, and recovery tasks.
- Support 24/7 operations across multiple time zones.
- Maintain documentation and assist in disaster recovery planning.
- Support other mainframe teams and client needs as required.
Qualifications
- Experience with z/OS, z/VM architectures.
- Experience with DASD and storage management.
- Knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, SMP/E, JES/EJES, TSO/ISPF, DFSMS, Capacity Management, VTAM, JCL.
- Experience with IBM TS7700 series, EMC VMAX hardware, and replication software.
- Support availability 24/7 across time zones.
- Knowledge of MS Teams, SAS, JES3, SMF/RMF research, ISPF commands.
- Educational background: Master’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, or 20 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Ability to pass Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation.
- Location: Remote, USA, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST.
