Job summary

Northern Base is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Developer in Jersey City, NJ to design, build, and maintain critical COBOL/DB2/CICS/MQ-based applications. You will work on both online and batch processing, implement changes, perform testing, and ensure robust production support.

Strong debugging, analytical, and communication skills are essential for success. The role emphasizes performance tuning, MQ integrations, and collaboration with business analysts and QA teams in a financial services

Qualifications

5-7 years of mainframe app development and support.
Hands-on COBOL LE, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM, Online/Batch.
MQ with CICS/COBOL and Batch/COBOL experience.
IBM MQ and IBM WBE background.
DB2 development, SQL, and performance tuning.
DB2 Stored Procedures a plus; File Manager and Debug Tool use.
Knowledge of ENDEVOR, TMON, MainView, and governance practices.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
Experience in Financial Services is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Mainframe apps with COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM, MQ.
Develop and support online and batch processing.
Implement changes following development standards; perform testing and deployment.
Develop MQ-based integrations with CICS/COBOL and Batch/COBOL.
Troubleshoot DB2, MQ, CICS issues; perform root cause analysis.
Optimize performance using monitoring tools; collaborate with analysts and testers.
Participate in code reviews, releases, and production support; maintain docs.
