Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Limited in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Senior Engineer to design, develop, maintain and support mission-critical mainframe applications. You will analyze, code, test, implement and provide production support for COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2 environments.

The role demands strong problem-solving, leadership to mentor junior engineers, and collaboration with onshore/offshore teams to ensure timely delivery and steady production operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Mainframe application development and support.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2.
• Experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical mainframe applications.
• Perform analysis, coding, testing, implementation, and production support activities.
• Develop and maintain programs using COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, and Stored Procedures (SPs).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues while ensuring system stability and performance.
• Conduct impact analysis for application enhancements, defect fixes, and system changes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Coordinate with onshore and offshore teams to ensure timely delivery of projects and support activities.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce development best practices and standards.
• Support release deployment activities and ensure smooth transition of changes into production.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, application design documents, and operational procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
