Job summary

Valiant Technologies LLC is seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 DBA to join our enterprise database team in Salt Lake City. You will ensure performance, availability, security, and reliability of IBM DB2 for z/OS environments powering core applications.

Collaboration with application teams, QA, DevOps, offshore resources, and business stakeholders is essential. You will design, administer, and tune large-scale production databases, implement DB2 utilities, and create efficient physical designs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
6+ years of hands-on Mainframe Database Administration.
Strong IBM DB2 for z/OS administration and support experience.
Experience with DB2 utilities including RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD.
Experience tuning SQL and resolving access path and performance issues.
Working knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM.
Experience coordinating with offshore teams and providing technical guidance.

Responsibilities

Ensure performance, availability, security, and reliability of IBM DB2 for z/OS databases.
Design, create, and maintain DB2 databases, tablespaces, indexes, views, and related objects.
Monitor SQL performance, locking conflicts, buffer pools, and access paths.
Develop and maintain JCL and REXX automation scripts.
Provide production support, incident response, and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with architects, QA, DevOps, and offshore resources.
