Job summary

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Mainframe COBOL Engineer in Charlotte to design, develop, test and maintain COBOL applications supporting core banking functions. You will participate in end-to-end SDLC activities, develop batch and online processing in high-volume environments, and analyze complex production incidents.

The role requires 5+ years of software engineering, COBOL on z/OS, JCL/VSAM, and DB2/IMS experience, with familiarity in agile environments.

Qualifications

5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent
Strong hands-on COBOL development on z/OS
Experience with mainframe batch and online processing
Working knowledge of JCL, VSAM, and mainframe data structures
Experience with DB2 and/or IMS databases
Experience with Agile or SDLC methodologies

Responsibilities

Participate in end-to-end SDLC activities including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and support
Develop and support batch and online processing workflows in high-volume environments
Analyze and resolve complex production incidents with root-cause analysis and preventative actions
Contribute to application enhancements, regulatory changes and modernization initiatives
Collaborate with business partners, architects, QA, and infrastructure teams
Participate in release planning, production readiness and post-release validation
Ensure applications meet security, risk, compliance and audit requirements
Support operational excellence including performance tuning and availability improvements
Participate in Agile delivery processes and enterprise SDLC standards
