Job summary

Machine Learning Technologies LLC in Charlotte, NC seeks a Mainframe Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications supporting core banking functions. You will participate in end-to-end SDLC activities and support batch and online processing in high-volume environments.

The role requires strong COBOL on z/OS skills, JCL/VSAM knowledge, and experience with DB2/IMS. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to Agile practices are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Strong hands-on COBOL development on z/OS.
• Experience with mainframe batch and online processing.
• Familiarity with JCL, VSAM, and mainframe data structures.
• Experience with DB2 and/or IMS databases.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot and AI tooling.
• Familiarity with Endevor or similar source control tools.
• Experience supporting production systems in regulated or mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe COBOL applications supporting core banking functions

Required Qualifications

• Ability to analyze complex system behaviors and troubleshoot issues effectively
• Experience working within Agile or structured SDLC methodologies.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting core banking, deposits, payments, or financial services systems
• Strong understanding of high-availability and high-volume transaction processing
• Experience with regulatory or compliance-driven system changes
• Familiarity with mainframe integrations (APIs, messaging, file-based interfaces)
• Experience participating in on-call rotations and supporting 24x7 production systems
• Exposure to mainframe modernization or hybrid integration initiatives
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
