Job summary

USAA is seeking a Senior Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer to install, configure, maintain, and tune CICS on the z/OS platform. The role handles high-volume online transactions and requires strong problem-solving skills to ensure system stability and performance.

You will drive performance optimization, security, disaster recovery, and cross-team collaboration with DB2 and MQ groups. On-site presence is four days per week with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining CICS Transaction Server.
• Experience monitoring and tuning CICS regions to meet SLAs with RMF, Intellimagic and MainView.
• Strong problem-resolution skills for complex system and app issues.
• Automation scripting using REXX to streamline management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain CICS TS and related software.
• Apply vendor patches, fixes, and new releases using SMP/E.
• Monitor and tune CICS performance to meet SLAs and optimize capacity.
• Troubleshoot system and application issues, analyze dumps with developers/vendors.
• Provide developer support and manage CICS regions and resources.
• Work with DB2 and MQ to integrate CICS with subsystems, ensure security and DR plans.
• Develop automation scripts (REXX) to improve efficiency and reliability.
