Job summary

Ztek Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced mainframe batch scheduling engineer in Deerfield, Illinois to design, develop, and maintain batch job schedules across OPC, Autosys and Maestro.

You will monitor cycles, troubleshoot failures, and collaborate with application teams to ensure timely processing. Responsibilities include optimizing workflows, documenting procedures, performing health checks, and supporting upgrades and disaster recovery tests in a high-availability mainframe

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of mainframe experience
• Strong batch scheduling expertise
• Experience with IBM Scheduler (OPC)
• Proficient in Autosys and Maestro
• Proven ability to troubleshoot batch failures
• Strong collaboration with dev and infra teams
• Ability to optimize workflows and prevent bottlenecks
• Experience with DR testing and migrations

Responsibilities

• Overall 8-10 years of experience in mainframe engineering, batch job scheduling and monitoring batch jobs
• Design, develop, and maintain batch job schedules using IBM Scheduler (OPC), Autosys, and Maestro.
• Monitor daily batch processing cycles, ensuring timely and successful completion.
• Troubleshoot and resolve scheduling and batch job failures, collaborating with application development and infra operations teams as needed.
• Review job dependencies and optimize workflows to prevent bottlenecks and improve performance.
• Document batch job workflows, schedules, and operational procedures.
• Support and maintain mainframe environments, ensuring batch jobs run efficiently and reliably.
• Perform regular health checks and performance tuning for mainframe batch processing.
• Participate in mainframe upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery testing as required.
