Job summary

Mainspring Energy is seeking a Sr. Machinist to support our engineering development lab in Menlo Park. You will program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce complex prototypes in metal and composite materials.

You will work with a small team and coordinate daily shop activities to meet project goals while upholding safety and quality standards. You will collaborate with engineers to select materials and processes, supervise shop staff when needed, and maintain current knowledge of

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of related experience.
• MasterCAM experience and 5-axis programming.
• Operate CNC mills, lathes and conventional machines for prototype parts.
• Read and interpret drawings, GD&T, and specs.
• Collaborate with engineers on design feasibility and material selection.
• Ability to supervise and train shop staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day shop operations and ensure production meets specs.
• Operate CNC mills, band saw, drill press and measurement tools for prototypes.
• Consult with engineers on design, capacity and material choices.
• Plan machining by studying work orders, drawings and specifications.
• Evaluate processes and suggest efficiency improvements.
• Possibly supervise and train shop personnel.
