UCAR is seeking a Machinist-Instrument Maker Level III to lead high-precision fabrication for research instruments. You will plan, program, and operate CNC and manual machines, collaborate with scientists, review CAD drawings, and mentor junior staff.

Required are six years of relevant trade experience or equivalent education, advanced GD&T knowledge, GibbsCAM proficiency, and strong tooling and process optimization skills.

Formación

• Completion of a relevant machine trade vocational program, and at least six years of high precision machine trade experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced skill in Machinist and Instrument Maker trades, CAD evaluation, GD&T, tolerances, and material selection.
• Experience leading fabrication projects and mentoring shop personnel.

Responsabilidades

• Plan, program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and manual machines to produce high-precision instruments.
• Perform advanced CAM programming for multi-axis machining centers and develop fixtures and tooling.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers on instrument design and fabrication.
• Review CAD drawings and GD&T, assess manufacturability, and propose improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff; potentially lead projects.
• Ensure safety compliance and optimize tooling, processes, and throughput.
