Job summary

Caterpillar in San Diego, CA is seeking a Master Machinist to plan, set up, and operate machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs. You will work from drawings and specs to machine facility parts, tooling, and prototypes with tight tolerances.

Requires a Master Machinist journeyman card or 8+ years of machining experience, GD&T expertise, and 3–5 axis experience. Shift flexibility is a plus in this full-time role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Master Machinist journeyman card or 8+ years of machining experience.
• Experience with lathe, mill, surface grinder, VTL, jig bore, ProtoTRAK controls, knee mills & bed mills.
• GD&T experience.
• 3, 4, and 5 axis machining experience would be a plus.
• Must be willing to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide product support, technical assistance to internal and external customers.
• Plan sequence of operations and lay out work, set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, mill, EDMs, grinders.
• Perform machining operations for construction and repair of machined parts and tooling.
• Fabricate dies, jigs, gauges, fixtures; maintain and check conformance to specifications.
• Check own work and apply shop mathematics; maintain a safe, clean work environment.
