Job summary

Advex Corporation in Hampton, VA is seeking a Full-Time Machine Shop Estimator to lead estimating for shop work scopes. You will develop initial estimates for materials, tooling, labor hours, and lead times based on drawings and shop capabilities.

You will extract drawing details, select appropriate work centers, obtain supplier quotations, and produce clear, defendable estimates for labor, materials, and scheduling. The role requires extensive experience with CNC machining and a U.S.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of combined experience in machining estimating and planning.
• Knowledge of 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining operations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex machining drawings.
• Experience working with suppliers and obtaining quotations for raw materials and tooling.
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to controlled technical information.

Responsibilities

• Extract technical information from customer drawings to determine materials and tooling.
• Apply machining methods and process knowledge to select the appropriate work centers.
• Develop the initial planning router for execution of the work.
• Obtain material and subcontract quotations from suppliers.
• Maintain visibility into shop capabilities and lead times and account for them in estimates.
• Prepare clear, defensible estimates for labor, materials, tooling, work center use, and schedule.
