Job summary

AMETEK's Gatan Machine Shop Manager leads a high-precision, low-volume operation in Warrendale, overseeing machining, prototyping, tooling, process development, scheduling, and safety. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
7+ years machining leadership experience, including 3+ years CNC operations management.
Strong knowledge of CNC turning, milling, fixturing, tooling, and inspection methods.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing analytics, and low-volume, high-mix production.
Proven track record of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Excellent financial, budgeting, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to boost productivity and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and manage machinists, programmers, inspectors, and support staff.
Set priorities to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals.
Improve workflow, machine utilization, setup time, and throughput.
Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
Develop multi-year technology roadmaps and capital project justification.
Manage budgets and optimize labor, materials, tooling, and equipment.
Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Service.
Support prototypes, new product introductions, and manufacturability improvements.
