Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking an experienced Machine Shop/Tool Room Supervisor to oversee daily shop operations in our AS9100-certified manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee development while ensuring precision machined components consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of machining experience, including CNC machining.
• Experience in aerospace/defense or AS9100 environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, GD&T, ERP systems, and production planning.
• Proven ability to coach employees and drive performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop machinists to meet safety, quality, and delivery goals.
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, machine utilization, and workflow across departments.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, engineering drawings, GD&T, and internal procedures.
• Monitor KPIs like productivity, scrap, downtime, and on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Production leadership to resolve issues.
• Champion Lean and continuous improvement in a safe, organized workplace.
