Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP seeks a seasoned Machine/Grind Shop Manager to supervise the machining and grinding department at the Shrewsbury, MA facility. This full-time, onsite role runs Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm and demands deep knowledge of machining operations, CNC programming, tooling, and workflow optimization.

You will lead machinists, plan production, monitor processes, and drive improvements to ensure quality and on-time delivery while upholding EH&S and ISO9001 standards.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of direct experience in a machine shop environment with leadership experience.
• Familiarity with ISO9001 and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of machinists and precision grinders, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Plan and organize production schedules to meet customer demands.
• Monitor production processes and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Make daily decisions to support ongoing operations and scheduling.
• Manage releases of new jobs and daily work plans.
• Lead hiring, development, retention, and training of personnel.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and product engineering to develop best practices, fixtures, tooling, and measurement tools.
