Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Software Development Engineer III for the TeraWave MAC control-plane, designing and testing high-throughput, low-latency software for space-based communications. You will collaborate across PHY, modems, networking, and platforms to deliver scalable MAC services against dynamic beam and satellite mobility.

The role emphasizes building robust, testable software in C/C++ on Linux/RTOS with strong emphasis on protocol design, performance, and integration with hardware.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/CE/EE or related technical field.
• 4+ years in wireless networking, embedded systems or high-performance networking.
• Proficiency in C/C++ on Linux, RTOS or timing-sensitive software.
• Experience implementing protocols, state machines, schedulers, QoS.
• Experience interfacing software with hardware and networking systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test MAC control-plane software for satellite links.
• Develop TDMA, DAMA, admission-control, scheduling, radio-resource systems.
• Implement protocol state machines for link management and mobility.
• Develop QoS, traffic prioritization, flow-control and link adaptation.
• Integrate with PHY, modems, data planes, telemetry, and hardware MAC.
• Build simulation, test, and performance-analysis tools for mobility scenarios.
• Diagnose issues using logs, telemetry, captures, simulations, and test environments.
• Deliver MAC control-plane features through design, review, and deployment.
