Job summary

Partner Company is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer for Lustre-based distributed storage systems in the United States.

You will drive design, debugging, and performance improvements across Lustre subsystems, collaborating with QE, support, and release teams to deliver robust solutions for demanding workloads. This hands-on role requires deep Linux and filesystem knowledge, strong C skills, and experience with HPC networking.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years in systems software or distributed storage related roles.
• Deep expertise with LustreFS and at least one major subsystem.
• Advanced C programming skills and Linux debugging capabilities.
• Working knowledge of Linux kernel internals, filesystem semantics, networking, and performance analysis.
• Experience with high-performance networking technologies and HPC environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and enhance LustreFS features across subsystems (llite, MDS/MDT, OSS/OST, LDLM, LNet).
• Lead root-cause analysis for customer-reported and large-scale deployment issues.
• Improve performance, reliability, fault tolerance in distributed storage environments.
• Lead code reviews, architecture discussions, and testing readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with QE and support to reproduce issues and expand test coverage.
• Troubleshoot across clients, servers, networks, and backend storage layers.
• Document subsystem behavior, debugging techniques, and operational best practices.
• Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate triage, analysis, and design exploration.
