Job summary

Jobgether, partnering with a company, is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer, Lustre, based in the United States.

The role focuses on advancing distributed storage systems, improving Lustre performance, reliability, and scalability in HPC environments. You will lead debugging, suggest designs, and collaborate across QE, support, and release teams while applying AI-assisted tooling to accelerate troubleshooting and development.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in systems software, distributed systems, or storage engineering.
• Hands-on LustreFS experience or deep Lustre subsystem expertise.
• Advanced C programming and Linux systems debugging skills.
• Linux kernel internals, filesystem semantics, and performance analysis.
• Experience with high-speed networks such as RDMA/InfiniBand/TCP storage networking.
• Strong debugging, testing, and operational reliability mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and enhance LustreFS features across subsystems (llite, MDS/MDT, OSS/OST, LDLM, LNet).
• Investigate customer-reported and large-scale deployment issues and implement fixes.
• Improve performance, reliability, and fault tolerance in large-scale environments.
• Lead code reviews, architecture discussions, and subsystem readiness assessments.
• Collaborate with QE and support to reproduce issues, improve diagnostics, and expand test coverage.
• Troubleshoot across clients, servers, networks, and backend storage layers.
• Analyze logs, characterize bottlenecks, and validate fixes with testing and measurements.
• Improve observability, diagnostics, and operational practices for Lustre deployments.
• Document subsystem behavior, debugging techniques, and best practices.
• Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate triage, log analysis, and design exploration.
• Promote engineering consistency and reduce reliance on individuals within subsystems.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead focused technical initiatives as needed.
