You will lead debugging, design enhancements, and performance improvements across Lustre subsystems, collaborating with QE, support, and release teams to deliver robust storage solutions for demanding workloads. The role emphasizes deep Linux, kernel, and filesystem expertise, as well as mentoring, code reviews, and diagnostic automation.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years in systems software, distributed storage, Linux kernel, or filesystem engineering.
• Strong hands-on LustreFS experience with deep subsystem expertise.
• Advanced C programming and Linux debugging skills.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel internals, filesystem semantics, networking, and performance analysis.
• Experience with LNet or high-performance networking (RDMA/InfiniBand/TCP).
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex cross-layer issues.
• Analytical mindset with emphasis on correctness, maintainability, testing, and reliability.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, QA, support, and release teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in HPC, AI infra, or large-scale storage is preferred.
• Exposure to metadata-intensive workloads and observability/tools is beneficial.
• Mentoring junior engineers and leading subsystem initiatives is advantageous.
• Strong written communication and knowledge-sharing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and enhance LustreFS features across core subsystems.
• Investigate customer-reported and deployment issues; perform root-cause analysis and fixes.
• Improve performance, reliability, and fault tolerance in large-scale storage environments.
• Lead code reviews, architecture discussions, subsystem reviews, and testing readiness.
• Collaborate with QE and support to reproduce issues, improve diagnostics, and expand test coverage.
• Troubleshoot across clients, servers, networks, and backend storage layers.
• Analyze logs, characterize bottlenecks, and validate fixes via testing and performance measurements.
• Improve observability, diagnostics, and operational practices for Lustre deployments.
• Document subsystem behavior, debugging techniques, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
• Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate triage, code comprehension, and design exploration.
• Promote consistency and redundancy by sharing expertise and improving code reviews.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives within subsystems.
