Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer to contribute to the design, development, integration and test of thermal control systems for a lunar mission vehicle. You will join a team of engineers and work with NASA as part of the Human Landing System, applying leadership and technical rigor to ensure safe, reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience in the spacecraft design industry.
• 8 years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
• Demonstrated experience in managing hardware EBOMs, drawings and manufacturing artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop module and vehicle level thermal assemblies from concept to flight operations.
• Support internal or external development of thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline product teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group.
• Develop outputs including specifications, test plans and reports.
• Analyze thermal performance using hand calculations and Thermal Desktop models.
• Develop short- and long-term development plans.
• Make make-or-buy decisions for thermal components.
