Job summary

Central Transport in Atlanta, GA is hiring to oversee outbound operations at the terminal dock, supervising forklift traffic and palletized freight for a designated section. You will manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules, using judgment to optimize loads and ensure safety and KPI targets.

The ideal candidate has experience in transportation or cross docking, strong leadership, excellent communication, and a good grasp of technology.

Qualifications

Experience in transportation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environments (LTL preferred).
Familiar with customs and cross-border transportation.
Strong leadership qualities.
Desire to surround customer with excellence in service.
High aptitude for technology.
Ability to multi-task while being detail oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Oversee outbound operations for designated section of the terminal dock.
Include loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to meet production schedules.
Use independent judgment to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and trailer weight.
Provide leadership to drivers, dock workers, and dock hands.
Monitor dock production and KPI goals; ensure hours and overtime are managed.
Maintain a safe work environment per DOT/OSHA standards.
