Job summary

illumifin, a leading provider of long-term care insurance services, seeks a Senior Underwriter. You will examine, review and rate client applications to ensure compliance with guidelines while mentoring junior underwriters.

Remote work is available with autonomy and professional judgment. Responsibilities include analyzing risk from medical and lifestyle data, documenting findings, and communicating decisions to applicants and clients.

Qualifications

• BA, BS, RN or equivalent insurance industry experience.
• Minimum of 3 years LTC/Life underwriting experience.
• Strong command of medical terminology.
• Typing speed of 50 WPM or better.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review applications and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze risk using established underwriting guidelines and procedures.
• Approves, declines or rates the application within criteria.
• Read and interpret medication lists, medical records, cognitive tests, MIB and prescription data.
• Mentor lower level underwriters and assist daily processing.
