Job summary

IRP Med in San Clemente, CA seeks a Senior Tooling Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of tooling for LSR molded components. You will create precision mold designs, support manufacturing, and drive cost-effective production solutions for medical applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
8+ years of injection mold design experience, preferably with LSR/elastomers.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Knowledge of molding processes including CNC, EDM, tooling assembly.

Responsibilities

Optimize mold designs for manufacturability, cycle time, and quality.
Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, QA, and process teams to meet requirements.
Create and maintain tooling documentation, BOMs, and change records.
Generate 3D CAD mold layouts and manufacturing drawings (SolidWorks).
Lead troubleshooting of tooling issues (flash, short shots, knit lines).
Coordinate with tool shops, suppliers, and internal machining teams.
