Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Low Voltage Systems to own low voltage energy use cases, set targets, and drive reductions across ICE, EV and PHEV platforms.

You will define and own low voltage functions, ensure traceability to hardware and ART solutions, develop test requirements, and lead cross-functional teams using DNG and Jira.

A Bachelor's in Engineering and 5+ years in automotive embedded systems are required; relocation benefits are available in this hybrid role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years automotive engineering experience (embedded controls).
  • Ability to manage large information flows with interdependencies.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures and ECU wakeup strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering principles.
  • Proficient in writing and understanding software/hardware requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define low voltage energy use cases and set energy consumption targets for components and features.
  • Define and own low voltage system functions and drive implementation through the System Technical Specification.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements and targets to hardware subsystem and ART solution requirements.
  • Develop test requirements and ensure traceability to requirements and targets.
  • Analyze status against energy consumption targets based on use cases.
  • Analyze competitive power consumption performance and optimization strategies.
  • Coordinate actions with relevant teams to address gaps.
  • Lead trade-off decisions, buy‑offs, and escalation of power consumption issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and system specifications (e.g., DNG).
  • Track changes and issues using Jira.
