Citi is seeking a senior Low Latency Java Engineer to shape high-performance trading platforms. You will lead development in a Java-based, low-latency environment and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, event-sourced microservices.

The role includes mentoring others and engaging with stakeholders to drive innovation. Hybrid work is available, with a strong focus on performance, architecture, and delivering reliable systems for global markets.

Qualifications

• Senior role overseeing low-latency Java and related systems engineering.
• Experience in algorithmic trading development in low latency environments.
• Knowledge of market data handling and time-series databases (e.g. KDB).
• Proven leadership, project management and development skills.
• Strong coding in Java with deep JVM/Linux understanding.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networks and kernel bypass concepts.
• Ability to assess performance and tune systems for latency.
• Capable of designing elegant architectures and documenting with UML.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead Java/Rust-based development in a high-performance architecture.
• Integrate functions to meet goals and deploy new products.
• Analyse complex business and system processes to derive solutions.
• Provide world-class expertise in low-latency Java development.
• Leverage knowledge of main system flows to achieve tech goals.
• Consult with end users to specify system requirements.
• Influence senior leaders and engage external partners.
• Mentor junior and less experienced developers.
