Job summary

Valero Energy in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Sr. Loss Control Specialist to oversee custody transfer measurements and minimize product losses across crude and petroleum movements.

This on-site role requires shipping/terminal inspection experience and readiness to respond to refinery issues outside normal hours. You will verify volumes with inspectors, enforce API/ASTM standards, and develop systems to alert management to potential inventory losses.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in custody transfer measurements, loss control, or marine/terminal inspection.
• Willing to work 24/7 including holidays, onsite at Port Arthur refinery.
• Eligible to obtain a TWIC card and wear it on site at all times.

Responsibilities

• Identify issues exposing Valero to additional costs and mitigate exposure.
• Minimize losses from measurement errors through proactive custody movements and compliance with standards.
• Verify volumes with independent inspectors.
• Develop and implement systems to alert management of potential inventory and loss problems.
• Communicate with vessel officers and shore representatives to determine if additional oversight is required.
