Job summary

Logistec is seeking a Longshoreman III to perform advanced cargo handling in vessel holds and at terminal operations. The role requires substantial experience, specialized training, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while mentoring junior staff.

You will manage hull loading/unloading, understand stowage and securing requirements, and operate forklifts, PITs, and cutting tools safely. Physical fitness and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling.
• Specialized training in PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use.
• Proficiency with forklifts, yard mules, chain saws and chop saws.
• Strong understanding of cargo stowage and safety standards.
• Physical ability for demanding tasks and independent or team work.

Responsibilities

• Hooking on cargoes in the hold for unloading and unhooking during loading.
• Understand cargo stowage, dunnage and securing requirements.
• Operate PITs for stowing cargo on the vessel.
• Proficient use of chain and chop saws for securing operations.
• Secure cargo with lashings and perform carpentry as needed.
• Visually inspect lifting gear and maintain a clean work area.
