You will secure cargo, operate PIT equipment, and ensure safe stowage per procedures, focusing on high‑risk environments and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling.

• Proficiency with forklifts, yard mules, chain saws, and chop saws.
• Strong understanding of cargo stowage principles and safety standards.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in varying environments.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Hook cargoes in the hold for unloading and unhooking during loading.
• Understand cargo stowage, dunnage and securing requirements.
• Operate PIT’s for stowing cargo on the vessel with a Small Forklift or Yard Mule.
• Proficient with chain and chop saws and securing cargo with lashings.
• Safely remove lashings/securements and visually inspect lifting gear.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.

Employees are expected to have substantial experience and specialized training to perform complex cargo handling, equipment operation, and securing procedures. The role demands a strong understanding of cargo stowage and safety practices in high-risk environments. Proficient in a wide range of tasks and tools. Capable of troubleshooting common issues and making minor adjustments. Works with minimal supervision and contributes to process improvements. May lead small teams or mentor junior staff.

• Completion of specialized training in PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts, yard mules, chain saws, and chop saws.
• Strong understanding of cargo stowage principles and safety standards.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in varied environmental conditions.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Understanding cargo stowage, dunnage & securing requirements.
• Proficient in Operating PIT’s stowing cargo on the vessel - Small Forklift or Yard Mule.

• Proficient in securing cargo with lashings and carpentry & safely removing lashings/securements.
• Visually inspect the lifting gear.
• Maintain a clean work area.
