Job summary

The Office of the State Auditor in Minnesota seeks a Local Government Auditor Senior in Marshall to join the Audit Practice Division. This role conducts independent audits of local governments, with telework eligibility and up to 25% travel. You’ll lead audit planning, execute complex sections, and mentor junior staff.

Interviews may be in St. Paul. Start around October 12, 2026, reporting to Marshall or a client site at least one day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or master’s degree with accounting concentration.
• Minimum of two years of progressive audit experience in government financial/compliance audits.
• Knowledge of GAAP/GASB for local governments and GAAS/GAGAS; familiarity with federal awards (Uniform Guidance).
• CPA licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and completion of individual audits.
• Self-direct complex audit sections and financial reporting.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to junior auditors.
