Job summary

Adventure Credit Union in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Senior Underwriter to serve as a trusted lending resource, evaluating member loan requests and managing risk to support responsible lending and financial well-being.

You will underwrite consumer loans, home equity, and related products, verify documentation, review income, collateral, and compliance with ECOA and HMDA where applicable, while guiding staff to strengthen loan applications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years underwriting experience on consumer and home equity loans.
• Must obtain and disclose an NMLS registry ID as per SAFE Act.
• Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook and core banking systems.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite consumer loan requests including unsecured, vehicle, indirect, and home equity products.
• Verify documentation accuracy and income verification.
• Assess borrower creditworthiness using credit reports and income analysis.
• Provide guidance to staff to improve loan applications and increase approvals.
• Document decisions in loan origination systems and maintain data accuracy.
