Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience underwriting consumer and home equity loans preferred.
• NMLS registry ID number must be obtained, maintained and disclosed per SAFE Act.
• Excellent typing and computer skills, including in-house email and core systems; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite consumer loan requests (unsecured, vehicle, indirect loans, home equity).
• Verify accuracy and authenticity of supporting documentation (proof of income, insurance).
• Assess borrower creditworthiness, risk factors, and repayment ability using credit reports, income analysis, and collateral evaluation.
• Review home equity documents to determine ratios, credit and collateral acceptability (title searches, SEV, appraisals, income verification, flood insurance binders).
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal policies and applicable lending laws (ECOA, Fair Lending, HMDA).
• Provide feedback and guidance to staff to develop loan applications with best odds of approval.
