Job summary

Global Medical Response is seeking a Communication System Engineer based in CA to support, maintain, and enhance our land mobile radio, RoIP, and dispatch radio infrastructure across field operations, centers, aviation, and IT teams.

The role involves hands‑on work with tower‑site gear, routers, firewalls, and radio equipment, with travel across the state up to 50–75% and collaboration with vendors and public safety partners to ensure reliable emergency communications.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) experience.
  • Strong Radio Troubleshooting Skills with RF, network, and equipment issues.
  • RoIP interoperability platforms experience (e.g., Motorola WAVE, ESChat).
  • IP networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, WAN.
  • Dispatch consoles experience (MCC7500, Mindshare).
  • Willingness to travel 50–75% to tower sites and facilities.
  • Public safety / EMS / aviation communications experience.
  • FCC licensing, frequency coordination, and regulatory compliance exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LMR systems and dispatch infrastructure.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve radio system outages across operations.
  • Travel to tower sites, centers, and field locations for maintenance and inspections.
  • Coordinate repairs with tower owners, vendors, and service providers.
  • Document configurations, assets, and CMDB records and perform upgrades.
