Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an LLM Engineer to design, build, and deploy large and small language models for enterprise-grade AI solutions. You will work with data scientists, platform engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, production-ready capabilities.

The role emphasizes fine-tuning, evaluation, and optimization using techniques like LoRA/QLoRA, with collaboration across teams to ensure responsible AI practices and robust performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, AI Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years deploying Generative AI/LLM/SLM in production.
• Experience building enterprise-grade AI applications with LLMs, RAG, prompts, APIs, and cloud/on-prem platforms.
• Strong understanding of fine-tuning, adaptation, evaluation frameworks, and AI quality metrics.
• Proficiency in ML development, deployment, and MLOps best practices.
• Experience with Python and modern AI/ML frameworks and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, fine-tune, deploy, and optimize LLM and SLM solutions for enterprise-scale use cases.
• Develop and maintain supervised fine-tuning, model adaptation, and evaluation pipelines.
• Apply model optimization techniques including LoRA, QLoRA, distillation, quantization, and compression.
• Assess commercial, open-source, and hosted foundation models based on quality, cost, and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support domain-specific AI solutions using enterprise datasets.
