Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an LLM Engineer to design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade large and small language model solutions. You will collaborate with data scientists, platform engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver production-ready generative AI capabilities in a scalable, compliant environment.

You will fine-tune, optimize, and evaluate models using LoRA, QLoRA, distillation, and other techniques; assess models from commercial, open-source, and internal sources; and

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering/AI Engineering/related fields.
• 2+ years hands-on in Generative AI/LLM/SLM in production.
• Experience building enterprise AI apps using LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, APIs, cloud or on-prem.
• Strong tuning/adaptation/evaluation frameworks and AI quality metrics.
• Proficiency in ML development, deployment, and MLOps.
• Experience with Python and modern AI/ML tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, fine-tune, deploy, and optimize LLM/SLM solutions for enterprise-scale use cases.
• Develop and maintain supervised fine-tuning, model adaptation, and evaluation pipelines.
• Apply LoRA, QLoRA, distillation, quantization, and model compression for performance gains.
• Assess commercial/open-source/internal foundation models for quality, cost, and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support domain AI solutions with approved enterprise data and responsible AI practices.
