Job summary

Atria Senior Living - Merrimack Place in Newburyport, MA is hiring for a transportation role. You will drive residents to activities and appointments, assist with boarding, and ensure safety with wheelchair restraints.

A CDL is required, along with strong safe‑driving and customer service skills. The position involves vehicle maintenance, daily record keeping, and coordination with Engage Life and Maintenance staffs to support resident programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–3 months related experience
• Five or more years of driving experience
• Commercial driver’s license (CDL) required
• Able to operate 7–16 passenger bus; limousine or car; wheelchairs list and related equipment
• Knowledge of all streets within an 8‑mile radius of the community
• Position requires driving responsibilities (may use company or personal vehicle)
• Must meet Atria Motor Vehicle Record Policy standards

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, courteous transportation service and support Engage Life Director or Maintenance Director
• Drive vehicle to social and other destinations per schedule
• Assist residents into/out of vehicle safely
• Secure passengers' wheelchairs and restraints
• Perform safe driving practices at all times
• Clean and service vehicle; report and coordinate maintenance
• Maintain daily/weekly trip inspection records and vehicle maintenance logs
• Deliver groceries/belongings to residents’ apartments
• Support Engage Life Department activities and programs
• Submit charges to business office daily for community travel expenses
• Maintain safe driving record per company guidelines
• Handle emergencies and basic First Aid
• Report unsafe conditions to Executive Director
