Job summary

Friendship is seeking Security Guards for its North Roanoke and Richfield Living teams in Roanoke, VA and Salem, VA to help protect residents, visitors and staff on campus. Guards will patrol, monitor surveillance and respond to emergencies, coordinating with local responders as needed.

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, VA driver’s license, ability to lift over 50 pounds, and the stamina to stand and patrol for long shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Knowledge of evacuation and emergency preparedness principles.
• Active duties require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting objects over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Make rounds on property and in buildings; check doors and lock/unlock as appropriate.
• Respond to all fire alarms and follow RACE procedures.
• Meet the rescue squad at resident apartments in emergencies.
• Alert Police Department and inform switchboard when police are notified.
• Log activities daily and report to the next guard at shift change.
• Check security vehicles for maintenance concerns and report them.
• Maintain cut-off books to assist with water, electrical, and fire alarm shut-offs.
• Patrol parking lots and issue tickets for No Parking zones.
• Be available for call-backs during emergencies or severe weather.
