Job summary

Atria Senior Living’s Coterie brand in New York’s Hudson Yards is seeking a Memory Care Engagement Assistant to plan and coordinate activities for residents with dementia. You will lead group programs and support individual engagement, ensuring activities align with the Dementia Care Operations Guide and resident needs.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years’ experience with older adults, knowledge of recreational therapy methods, and ability to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years prior experience with an adult population developing and implementing activities and/or training.
• Working knowledge of recreational therapy methods and their application to dementia care activities.
• Certifications required based on current state regulations.
• Ability to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
• Must complete all Atria specified training programs.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be fully vaccinated and provide vaccination record at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned Life Guidance group programs and individual resident engagement.
• Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities with appropriate supervision.
• Involve Life Guidance staff in daily program planning and execution.
• Plan individual birthday celebrations for residents.
• Develop programs for residents, including those confined to their rooms.
• Engage and motivate residents to participate in activities.
• Greet new residents and facilitate introductions to others with similar interests.
• Assist in planning parties and seasonal decorations throughout the year.
• Support census-building initiatives within the community.
• Maintain records of activities, participation, and state-compliant documentation.
• Assist Life Guidance Director in coordinating volunteers for activities.
• May perform other duties as needed.
