Job summary

Truewood by Merrill, Boise is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support residents and maintain facilities in our senior living community. This full-time role involves general maintenance, basic plumbing and electrical tasks, painting, and upkeep of common areas.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance tasks across multiple trades.
  • Knowledge of MSDS and safety protocols.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and handle equipment.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentry.
  • Repair and maintain walls, floors, doors, windows, and furniture.
  • Complete work orders promptly and document safety issues.
  • Assist with safety procedures and hazard communications.
  • Maintain common areas and vacated rooms.
  • Assist with community vehicles and driver safety.

Our Maintenance Assistants are responsible for:
  • Perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical equipment, fire and sprinkler equipment, H.V.A.C., landscape, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.
  • Must understand and have knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained and repaired.
  • Must have basic prep and painting abilities
  • Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner which includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  • Responsible for all in-house plumbing, e.g. sinks, toilets and bathtubs.
  • Responsible for minor electrical work within units and in common areas, e.g. light switches, wall outlets, garbage disposals, etc.
  • Responsible for painting of all apartments and common areas.
  • Repair, clean and maintain all carpet, floor coverings and furniture.
  • Responsible for completing all work orders in a timely manner – noting any other work completed at the location but not listed on work order.
  • Document safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state and federal guidelines.
  • Assist MS in preventative maintenance and cleaning of the community vehicles (busses and cars, vans).
  • Assist with training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
  • Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Supervisor or General Manager.
  • Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned.
If you are someone with:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. (Must be at least 18 years of age.)
  • 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating and HVAC skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems.
  • Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
  • Flexible and must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Physical Requirements:

This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 90 lbs), pushing/pulling, and other physical activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
