Job summary

Merrill Gardens, LLC is seeking a Senior Living Maintenance Assistant to support residents within our senior community by maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. This role includes general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical repairs, and ensuring proper upkeep of common areas.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical equipment, fire and sprinkler equipment, HVAC, landscape, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair
  • Understand and have knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, and woodwork in the common areas are properly maintained and repaired
  • Have basic prep and painting abilities
  • Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets
  • Handle all in‑house plumbing, e.g., sinks, toilets and bathtubs
  • Perform minor electrical work within units and common areas, e.g., light switches, wall outlets, garbage disposals
  • Paint all apartments and common areas
  • Repair, clean and maintain all carpet, floor coverings and furniture
  • Complete all work orders promptly, noting any additional work completed not listed on the work order
  • Document safety issues and physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state and federal guidelines
  • Assist management in preventative maintenance and cleaning of community vehicles (buses and cars, vans)
  • Assist with training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Supervisor or General Manager
  • Respond immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred (must be at least 18 years of age)
  • 1–3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating and HVAC skills
  • Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems
  • Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability
  • Flexible and must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary
