ALG Senior in New Bern, NC seeks a Sous Chef to lead kitchen operations alongside the Executive Chef, ensuring high‑quality meals for residents and guests. You will manage daily prep, plating, and staff training while upholding nutrition standards and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include menu planning with resident preferences, inventory control, and leading the team in the Executive Chef's absence to maintain ALG Senior’s standards of excellence.

Qualifications

• Previous culinary experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and dietary restrictions.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required.
• Passion for providing excellent service and creating meaningful experiences for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation practices.
• Collaborate on menu planning, incorporating resident preferences and dietary requirements.
• Monitor food inventory, place orders, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste.
• Uphold regulatory standards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
• Step in to lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Contribute to a welcoming and efficient dining experience that reflects ALG Senior’s standards of excellence.
