Job summary

The Chateau of Long Beach in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Assistant Cook to join our dietary team. This full-time role requires preparing and serving meals to residents, accommodating dietary needs, and maintaining safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.

Qualified candidates will pass background and drug screenings, have a high school diploma or GED, and may have prior experience in an assisted living setting. A $500 sign-on bonus is offered along with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• DOJ FBI live scan background clearance is required.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screening must be passed.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in an assisted living environment is preferred.
• Flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food to residents in the community.
• Meet special dietary needs and prepare texture-modified meals as directed.
• Maintain records, food safety, and risk-management compliance.
• Train new kitchen aides and other staff on cooking routines.
• Follow the facility menu and monitor portion control.
• Order, receive, verify groceries and deliveries.
• Manage and monitor facility food budgets.
• Ensure kitchen and dining area cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
• Attend monthly trainings and staff meetings.
