Job summary

TruCare Community in Long Beach, CA is hiring an Assistant Cook to join our dietary team. The role involves preparing meals for elderly residents, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Background clearance (DOJ FBI live scan) required.
• Pre-employment physical and drug screening required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in an assisted living environment preferred.
• Flexible scheduling; weekends/holidays possible.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food to residents in the community.
• Meet all dietary needs and texture-modified foods as directed.
• Ensure compliance with record keeping, food safety and risk management requirements.
• Train new kitchen aides and other staff on cooking routines and procedures.
• Follow facility menu and maintain portion control as directed by the dietitian.
• Identify and develop improvements to better serve residents.
• Order, receive, verify and sign for groceries and deliveries.
• Maintain facility food budgets and proper handling of budgets.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and dining room utensils; inform Administrator of hazards.
• Attend monthly in-services and staff meetings with proper documentation.
• Be aware of residents' likes, dislikes and health restrictions.
• Supervise food production for quality and service.
• Maintain kitchen cleaning schedules to comply with safety and health rules.
