Job summary

Better Living in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in our assisted living community. You will maintain resident apartments, common areas, and facility spaces while upholding infection control standards and resident dignity.

You will work with care staff to support resident well-being, respect privacy, and ensure move-in readiness. Prior housekeeping experience, attention to detail, and compassionate communication are valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping experience preferred, especially in healthcare or senior living.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and infection control standards.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
• Compassionate and respectful demeanor when working around older adults.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident apartments, including bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and living areas.
• Perform daily and scheduled cleaning of common areas such as hallways, lounges, dining rooms, activity spaces, and restrooms.
• Dust, vacuum, mop, sweep, and polish floors and furniture as needed.
• Change linens, make beds, and launder resident or facility items as assigned.
• Safely handle and store cleaning supplies, following proper infection control and safety protocols.
• Report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or resident concerns to the appropriate staff promptly.
• Respect resident privacy and belongings while working in living spaces.
• Assist in preparing rooms for new residents to ensure a clean and welcoming move-in experience.
• Collaborate with care staff and other departments to support overall resident well-being and satisfaction.
• Adhere to community policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned
