Job summary

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Dining Room Supervisor to lead dining service teams and deliver exceptional resident experiences. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Dining Leadership Team and aligns with our mission and community values.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hospitality leadership, a strong knowledge of dining room service, sanitation, and food handling, and will be ServSafe & CPR certified or commit to certification in

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of leadership experience in hospitality.
• Two years of hospitality industry experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of dining room service techniques, resident relations, plate presentation, sanitation, food handling, personnel administration and special functions.
• ServSafe & CPR certified, or will become certified in the first year of employment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules, events, and service demands.
• Subject to on-call hours in the event of emergency, weather, etc.

Responsibilities

• Embraces CCL Hospitality Service training and Westminster-Canterbury’s community philosophy as the foundation for managing dining venues and service teams.
• Supervises Dining Room Team members and oversees daily service operations, ensuring established standards are consistently met.
• Manages staffing, scheduling, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Supports the professional growth and development of team members through coaching, feedback, and ongoing training.
• Leads “Show Time” pre-meal huddles and remains visible throughout meal periods to support the team and address resident and guest feedback regarding service and food quality.
• Builds strong relationships with residents, guests, team members, and Administration while responding to resident needs and special requests.
• Ensures proper health, sanitation, cash-handling, and operational procedures are followed throughout the dining areas.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance the dining experience and implements programs that promote resident satisfaction.
• Coordinates dining room décor, tabletop needs, menus, and special events in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager.
• Supports dining marketing initiatives and special event planning.
• Oversees the preparation and printing of daily, weekly, and monthly menus, as well as menu identifiers for residents and guests.
• Ensures proper operation and maintenance of POS systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must possess excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task along with excellent organization.
• Exhibits patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents, fostering strong relationships with team members and guests.
• Capable of handling service issues, staff conflicts, or guest complaints calmly and efficiently.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise servers and dining staff to maintain efficient and high-quality service.
