Job summary

Railside Assisted Living Center is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the building and grounds of the living center in Michigan. The role ensures Life Safety compliance and manages emergency drills, fire safety, and elopement procedures.

Responsibilities include coordinating preventive maintenance, managing work orders, supervising contractors, and maintaining safety for residents, including those who are frail or have dementia.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance of residential/institutional properties such as senior care.
• Ability to read, write and carry out directions; attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team; able to handle demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• LIFE SAFETY: ensure continuous compliance with Life Safety Code; train personnel in emergency procedures; manage fire, weather and life-safety drills; inspect facilities for compliance with regulations.
• PREVENTIVE and ROUTINE MAINTENANCE: ensure all equipment and systems are fully operational; schedule repairs; manage work orders; notify residents of delays as needed.
• BUILDING AND GROUNDS: oversee upkeep of apartments, grounds, entrances, and exterior building; supervise contractors; ensure safety in winter conditions.
• On-call responsibility for the building and other duties as assigned to meet living center goals.
• Secondary functions include serving as goodwill ambassador, managing apartment inspections, and coordinating events and staff communications.
• GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: maintain communication with maintenance leadership; participate in drills and training; report hazards and concerns promptly.
