Job summary

Better Living is seeking an experienced Senior Living Operations Director to oversee daily operations across an assisted living community in Iowa. You will ensure programs align with our mission to provide comfort, connection, and dignity to residents while guiding a positive, development-focused workplace for staff.

You will lead department heads, drive quality, compliance, and occupancy goals, and partner with families and the community to sustain exceptional care and service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or related field.
• 3–5 years leadership experience in long-term care, assisted living, or healthcare administration.
• Certificate/License per state as required by jurisdiction.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and state reporting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
• Uphold health, safety, and wellbeing standards for residents and staff.
• Supervise department leaders for coordinated service delivery.
• Recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified staff; foster a positive workplace culture.
• Oversee budgeting, billing, payroll, and expenses; drive occupancy and revenue goals.
• Build relationships with residents, families, staff, and the community.
• Lead quality assurance and improvement initiatives; address resident concerns promptly.
• Participate in marketing and community outreach to maintain census levels.
• Maintain documentation and reporting per state licensing and audit requirements.
