Job summary

Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team. You will prepare meals according to cycle menus, monitor food safety, and help create a restaurant-style dining experience for residents in a boutique, 5-star senior living community.

This role supports inventory, receiving, and storage, adheres to safety and infection control protocols, and collaborates with a caring team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Culinary training or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting is desired.
• General knowledge of quantity food preparation, portioning, and services.
• Serv Safe certification must be completed in the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food preparation and meal service, including nutritional snacks.
• Monitor temperatures of hot and cold foods to meet safety goals.
• Plan and initiate cooking schedules to meet meal times.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures and maintain a clean environment.
• Assist with inventory, receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Clean equipment and work areas as assigned.
• Know and follow federal, state, and community policies and procedures.
• Follow safety codes and infection control procedures.
• Attend department meetings and in-service programs.
• Understand fire and disaster plans and participate in drills and emergencies.
