Job summary

StoneBridge Senior Living is seeking a dedicated cook to prepare appetizing, nourishing, well-balanced meals for residents with daily nutritional and special dietary needs. Follow recipes and menus developed by Registered Dietitians, ensuring meals meet quality and safety standards.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma and 1 year of institutional cooking experience, plus strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to support a caring, resident-focused kitchen team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year experience as a cook in institutional food service preferred.
• Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
• Understanding of person-centered care.
• Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Responsibilities

• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines.
• Follows standardized recipes.
• Prepare foods that correspond to the menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cook or prepare meals in appropriate temperatures and times.
• Use food supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepare food alternatives to accommodate resident preferences.
• Assist with food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.
• Operate institutional kitchen equipment per guidelines and schedules.
• Communicate with supervisor to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Assist the Dietary Manager with inspection preparation and survey training.
