Job summary

Generations Assisted Living & Memory Care is seeking a Cook to prepare meals for senior residents, pack home-delivery orders, and maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining area. You will handle cooking, packaging, serving, and daily inventory with attention to safety and portion control.

The role requires following approved menus, coordinating with volunteers, and ensuring food quality and safety in a supervised setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in a kitchen.
• Ability to prepare and cook food in large quantities.
• Understand nutritional, portion, and sterilization requirements and regulations.
• Familiarity with various cooking equipment used in institutional kitchens.
• Maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and food sanitation.
• Perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Work well in a collaborative team and relate to seniors.

Responsibilities

• Examine supplies to ensure sufficient quantities for meals and requisition more if needed.
• Prepare food for cooking and ensure proper temperatures in storage and service.
• Cook, portion, and portion-control meats and dishes for serving.
• Package meals for home delivery and serve on-site in congregate settings.
• Clean and sanitize all utensils, equipment, and dining areas; manage inventory daily.
• Record food usage and supplies on the daily inventory sheet.
