Sonida Senior Living in St. Augustine, FL is seeking a Cook to join our dining team.

This role plans, prepares, and serves nutritious meals for residents, while coordinating with the Culinary Services Director to maintain a welcoming dining experience. The ideal candidate has prior senior living or hospitality experience, a Food Service Sanitation Certificate, and the ability to read recipes, work in a team, and handle multiple tasks with flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or guest service is preferred, but not required.
• Required license/certification, if applicable.
• A caring attitude and reliable attendance.
• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Must possess Food Service Sanitation Certificate as per State/Local requirements.
• High experience and/or knowledge of volume meal preparation and serving for large groups.
• Some supervisory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and/or in writing.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and serves attractive, nutritious meals in an organized, timely, and sanitary manner.
• Assists the Culinary Services Director in maintaining a well-organized and efficient Dining Services department.
• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts.
• Maintains standards for dining services to the Residents to include efficient meal service delivery, customer service and cleanliness of the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean after preparation and service; work area, pots and equipment.
• Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.
